Windows 10 is a suite of personal computer operating systems developed by Microsoft as part of the Windows NT family of operating systems. It is the successor to Windows and was released in production on July 15, 2015 and for retail sale on July 29, 2015. Windows 10 continues to receive new versions that are available to users at no additional cost. Devices in enterprise environments may receive these updates more slowly or use long-term support stages that receive only critical updates, such as security fixes, during the 10-year extended support period.

One of the most notable features of Windows 10 is support for Universal Apps, an extension of the Metro-style apps first introduced in Windows 8. Universal Apps can be designed to run across multiple Microsoft product families with nearly identical code—including PC PC, tablets and smartphones, embedded systems, Xbox One, Surface Hub and mixed reality. The Windows user interface has been redesigned to allow the transition between a mouse-oriented user interface and a touch-friendly user interface based on available input devices. On 2-in-1 PCs in particular, both user interfaces feature an updated Start menu that incorporates elements from the traditional Windows 7 Start menu with tiles in Windows 8. Windows 10 also introduced the Microsoft Edge web browser, a virtual desktop, windows and desktop with management features called Task View, support for fingerprint and facial recognition login, new security features for enterprise environments, etc. and DirectX 12.

– Touch functionality requires a multi-touch enabled tablet or monitor.

– To access the Windows Store and download and run apps, you need an active Internet connection and a screen resolution of at least 1024 768 pixels.
